The ‘FCU’ initially started as a short film in 2007 about Dylan Hayward (Sacca) and Russell McGowan (Karinen), fact checkers at the fictional men’s magazine DICTUM. They had to finish a piece on “Celebrity Sleeping Tips”, where they embarked on an expedition to learn whether actor Bill Murray drinks a glass of warm milk to help him sleep. This hybridized into a web series which is now thirteen episodes in with 5 of them sponsored by Samsung Galaxy Note (episode 04 above). The “sponsored” episodes show the Galaxy Note being used in various situations and IMO works well as a basic how-to for the device. Although the web series (and the original short film I assume, I have not seen it) comes with a healthy lathering of cheese, still props for some quick thinking on Samsung’s part to insinuate the Galaxy Note into relevant “real world” situations on something people actually watch (at the time of writing almost a million views for episode 04) as opposed to traditional advertising.
